I like Valentine's Day, but I refuse to go out to dinner and pay the ridiculous prices for the batch produced food. We always go out for dinner at the most convenient time near the day, hence we are going out to dinner tonight :) No cards or presents exchange hands.
Yesterday we went out to Pollock Park in Glasgow (apparently voted the best park in Europe 2008, wonders never cease. It is good, but the best?) to tire out the dog, give the spawn some fresh air and visit the posh food shop. They were having a wedding reception at Pollock House and I thought what a waste of a day. Instead of having 2 days to celebrate your relationship (i.e. Valentines and Wedding Anniversary) then you just have one. Unless someone wanted to get out of a present. Or of course they might have thought it was terribly romantic...
