I was seriously thinking about joining twitter again this morning since one of my friends was doing this cool automatic updating of FB and LJ via TW. However I have found out that my soon to be brother in law's father, who is a scottish minister, tweets. So that's out. Also my dad sent me a friendface request. So just in case I was considering joining that world, that's out too. When parents join, you know it's time to leave.
So LJ, you're the only one :)

Why is this even a question? Of course you would tell your friend! You might try and suggest it to them subtly so they do the digging and find out for themselves but you are not going to let it lie. These things always come out and then you are the person that knew but never said anything.
A better question would be - Two of your friends are dating and one is cheating. They have asked you not to say anything to the other because it didn't mean anything and they are going to end it. What do you do then?
Tell them if it ever happens again you are telling, no excuses. Everyone gets one big screw up.
In no particular order:
Finish my book (only 3 chapters left!)
Make an effort to make more friends
Write my uber vampire game (dark ages/victoriana/modern/gehenna)
Lose half a stone
Sort out my wardrobe (so many clothes I don't wear that I can't see the good stuff)
Let all the people I care about know about it
Stop holding onto the past which hurts me
Read all the unread books in my house before buying new ones (might be a dozen plus)
Make my baby as happy as possible
Learn to cook 3 things really well, not just 1 (lasagne)
Think about my career (well the fact I don't have one)
Strive to be the best wife I can
there is probably more, but me and spawn need bed....

Finally I can comfortably inflict my writing upon you without it looking like a vanity project!
My writing group is trying an experiment in online writing collaboration. We are going to write a section, then the next person will continue the piece. Who knows if it will work, especially since we all have completely different styles. As I set it all up, I posted first. Let the comedy commence!

Remember when you were younger and you would game every night of the week, sometimes until 4 in the morning, all squashed into a single room and sitting on the floor?
Now I can't even get 5 adults into one well stocked and comfortable kitchen between the hours of 6 and 10pm. And this is driving me mad. It is either work shifts (we have 3 shift workers in our group) or girlfriend commitments, or being too tired from general life. How priorities change for the worse.
As every day passes I have more game ideas that I want to try out and no one to torture with them. I think this is why I turned to trying to write my novel. At least that isn't a group activity. Just as Owen from Torchwood is still not dead yet (is there anyone apart from his agent that wants him to remain in the series?) the book is still not finished yet. Won't that make the reading all the better when it is? Anticipation or something?

1. Enlist in a university writing course
2. Convince the people that you like from the course that you could do essentially the same thing for free yourselves
3. Organise regular meetings, say bi-weekly, somewhere you can buy food and drink, like a bar.
4. Set a minimum word count that is decent, like 3000 words and take turns writing and presenting so you have one meeting on, one meeting off.
5. Listen to their comments, take lots of notes and redraft a lot.
6. Keep going along. Use email to keep up interest.
And eventually you will have your novel, and it shouldn't be that bad either.

I have my two friends from near Leeds staying with me this weekend. They're called Gav and Mary and they are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I hate that word, but I can't think of anything else that really describes them. They are generous, understanding, kind and caring, and having people like that in your life remind you how important it is to put the effort into maintaining a friendship. Ironic then that they are visiting to go to the wedding of an ex friend of mine. I have known him for 12 years, basically my whole adult life, but we no longer talk. Looking back we let each other down in different ways then were both too stubborn to fix it. At first for me it was because he was in the wrong and then it was because he didn't seem to care, and honestly that hurt me more than the original betrayal. Now things have gone too far and I don't think we can ever get back what we had, which makes me sad. But then who said that friendships should be forever? If we grow and change as people then it makes sense that our friendships would change to. I just wish it didn't hurt so damn much. Tomorrow night when they get hitched, I'll be on the wine. Good luck to them, but they might not need it. In my experience marriage is far easier than friendship.
